I’m just going to sit back…
…and let God do His thing. (Part 2)
Okay, so where did I leave off? Right! The DM from the younger, light-skinned, handsome guy!
Last summer I went to Houston to celebrate my friend’s 30th birthday. Before we left, I told God “I’m going to sit back and let You do Your thing because I’m tired.” I told myself I wasn’t going to focus on meeting anyone in Houston. My whole mindset was if it happens, it happens. My main focus was to make sure my friend enjoyed her birthday weekend and to make sure I enjoyed myself as well! And we did lol.
The first night we got there we were getting ready to go out. While I was getting dressed, I got a DM from a guy I hadn’t seen in years (15 years to be exact). We were friends on social media for years and would say one or two words to each other or like or love an insta post. So he DM’d me and said he hope I enjoy my vacation and of course I thanked him. Then he said “When you get back home I’d love to take you out on a date if you’re interested…”
Wow! A guy actually asked me on a date, he actually said the word “date.” I happily accepted.
Sure, it would be nice to go out with an old friend. I mean I didn’t have an excuse to say no because I was single. We ended up texting the entire time I was on the trip, and I really enjoyed our conversation a lot. It was such a great and genuine feeling. It honestly felt like old friends catching up (well I guess it was) lol. When I came back home, we ended up going on our date. We went bowling and I had the best time! I hadn’t had that much fun in such a long time. What made that date different was the vibe. It was such a friendly vibe. For once I was not concerned with wondering what a future would look like with me and him, something I had always done with guys I dated in the past. I was present in the moment, and I cherished every second of it. We bowled, laughed, drank, ate, and had deep conversations.
There is so much power in letting God do His thing. That saying “He’ll come when you least expect it” is a very true statement. When I chose to surrender, God brought the man of my dreams back into my life. And boy oh boy, God has a funny sense of humor. He sent me a man who’s younger than me, light-skinned, and has hair. But none of that really mattered because he is such a great human with an amazing heart. I really do believe God made him for me and I am forever grateful, thankful, and blessed He did.
