God hears you…

…but do you hear God?

I’ve always known how powerful and impactful praying is.  God really does listen and answers prayers, but in His time and in His way.  That’s the part I had to learn, understand, and eventually surrender to.  I had to give it ALL to God and let Him do His thing.

I used to pray from a selfish standpoint.  I was asking God for things, telling Him what I wanted, how I wanted it, and when I wanted it.  I realized none of my prayers were being answered and I didn’t quite understand why.

Were my prayers intentional?  No, they weren’t.  Was I serious about praying?  Sometimes.  Did I fully trust God?  No, not really.  Although I was praying, I still had thoughts and doubt in the back of my mind.  Can He hear me?  Was He listening?  Was he going to answer my prayers my way?  When I began going to church and reading my bible more often, I began learning about the power of surrender and trust.  As I was learning about those two things, I began changing the way I prayed.  I became more intentional, specific, and serious about praying.  God began answering my prayers.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.”  Do you trust in the Lord with ALL your heart?  Are you leaning on God’s understanding and not yours?  Are you submitting to him?

  1. Trust God.  He’s always with you and He’ll never leave you nor forsake you.

  2. Be intentional and specific in your prayers.

  3. Pray for strength and guidance on how to handle your prayers when they are answered. (Heavy on this one!)

If you start doing those three things, I believe you’ll start to experience a breakthrough, and you’ll see and experience God through a whole new set of lenses.

Take my word for it.

I did.
